No sealing till Nov 21 on roads notified in Sep 15 notification

New Delhi, Nov 15 (UNI) In a relief to about 25000 traders who have submitted affidavits in the Supreme Court to close down their shops by October 31 but who fall under the 2183 roads notified by the Delhi Government on September 15, the Municipal corporation of Delhi today said there would be no sealing, till November 21, on any of the shops under the notified roads.

Giving this information to reporters, MCD additional commissioner Parimal Rai said,''the owners of these shops will have to intimate in writing to the Supreme court-appointed Monitoring committee that they have stopped misuse of their properties with relevant details relating to the ownership and location of the property.'' The announcement by the MCD came after the Supreme Court today indicated that it could consider giving appropriate relief to these traders if they promised to close down their shops.

Based on the intimation, the Monitoring committee will submit a report to the Supreme Court which will consider the case of grant of relief to these traders.

''There will be no sealing on the 2183 roads notified under the September 15 notification,''Mr Rai said.

He, however, added that the sealing drive of the MCD would go on in the A and B colonies, the shops falling under the negative list as mentioned in the September 7 Urban Development Ministry notification as well as 5000 traders whose shops do not fall under the notified roads.

Mr Rai said the traders falling under the notified roads should file their intimation in the office of the deputy commisioners of their zones. For the convenience of the traders, the offices of the DCs will also remain open on Sunday November 19.
