New outfit claims responsibility of killing GNLF leader

Siliguri, Nov 15 (UNI) The United Gorkha Revolutionary Front (UGRF), a new outfit in the hills of Darjeeling, has claimed the responsibility of killing GNLF panchayat member Yonge Singh Lepcha in Kalimpong last month.

UGRF spokesman Rudra Acharya in a signed poster said the Commander of Unit 7 of the organisation- Sangram- had successfully eliminated Lepcha as the latter informed the police about the group.

The posters appearing on the walls of the hills yesterday, were the talk of the town.

Lepcha, the GNLF's member of Algarah-Santhuk Gram Panchayat in Kalimpong sub-division, was shot dead by UGRF militants some three weeks back. However, there had been no arrest so far in this connection.

Superintendent of Police, Darjeeling, Rajesh Subarno told UNI today that the killer would be arrested soon. He said the leader of UGRF, Ajay Dahal, was now hiding in Nepal.
