NEC conclave to focus trade ties with Southeast Asia
Aizawl, Nov 15 (UNI) The North Eastern Council (NEC) in a two-day conclave today at New Delhi will focus on improving trade and communication ties with the Southeast Asian countries.
Chief Ministers and Governors from NE states would be attending the meeting along with Union Minister of State for Commerce Jairam Ramesh and DoNER minister Mani Shankar Aiyar, official sources here today said.
Mizoram Chief Minster Zoramthanga along with his Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura counterparts Geong Apang and Manik Sarkar respectively would discuss the ways to develop trade with Myanmar, China and Bangladesh, sources said.
Besides, the meeting would discuss the 'look east policy' and 'Vision 2020' to improve the relations of NE region with Southeast Asian countries.
The NEC would also emphasis on improving surface, air and rail connectivity of the region with the rest of the country as well as with southeast Asia.
