MGR University signs MoU with University of Sunderland
Chennai, Nov 15 (UNI) Dr MGR Educational and Research Institute (MGR University) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with University of Sunderland, United Kingdom here today to launch the International Post Graduate programme at the MGR university.
Soon after signing the MoU with Prof Norman Parrington, Dean University of Sunderland, MGR University Chancellor A C Shanmugam said under this programme, it was proposed to conduct two post graduate programme of the University of Sunderland on Information Technology Management and Information Systems Engineering from February next at the varsity campus here.
The PG course would be a full 14-month programme with tri-mester pattern. The admission to these courses would be offered to students under two patterns, either to complete the courses in India in 14 months or to complete two-thirds of the programme in India and complete the last four months in England, he added.
Statng that the successful students of the both these streams would be awarded the PG degree in Engineering of University of Sunderland, he claimed that this was their beginning to offer quality education with the assistance of foreign universities and they were planning to have collaboration in other areas with other reputed foreign unversities around the globe.
Prof Norman Parrington pointed out that they were extremely happy with the signing of a MoU with Dr MGR University, which had good infrastructural facilities with fully equipped laboratories and well qualified and experienced faculty.
The Sunderland University's academic programmes would not only help the students concerned for their placements, but also to sharpen their skills to meet the global competition successfully, besides enhancing the skill of IT professionals, he said, adding that each course would have an intake of 30 each.
