Lok Sabha TV launches new programme

New Delhi, Nov 15 (UNI) With barely a week left for the commencement of the Winter Session of Parliament, Lok Sabha Television, a brainchild of Speaker Somnath Chatterjee, today began a new series on its prime time, aimed at highlighting issues which are to be vociferously raised during the month-long session.

The new series, titled ''Countdown to Winter Session'', will comprise half an hour programme each on issues related to Reservation, Internal Security, Agriculture, Minorities, Foreign Policy and Judiciary.

''These are the issues which are likely to figure prominently in the Winter Session of Parliament, commencing from November 22,'' a statement of the Lok Sabha Secretariat said.

The first in this series of discussions -- the issue of reservations -- will be telecast tonight at 2000 hrs and the same will be repeated the folowing day at 0930 hrs.

The issues identified will be discussed in a focused manner by a panel of experts. The series will conclude with a curtain-raiser on November 21 when the representatives of major political parties will debate on subjects that they would like to raise in the Winter Session.

The 24-hour Lok Sabha Television Channel was launched on July 24 this year.
