LDF, UDF candidates file papers

Kozhikode, Nov 15 (UNI) The candiates of both the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the Opposition United Democratic Front (UDF), the principal political formations in Kerala, today filed their nomination papers for the December four Thiruvambadi bypoll.

Peasant leader George M Thomas of the CPI-M(LDF) and Mr V M Ummer of the Indian Union Muslim League (UDF) filed their papers before Returning Officer and District Forest Officer Sravankumar Verma in the morning for the bypoll caused following the death of CPI(M) member Mathai Chacko.

Another person, K Padmarajan, was also in the fray as an Independent.

The Bharatiya Janata Party had also announced its decision to contest the byelection.
