Inhuman way of paying oblation through human sacrifice

Chandrakona, West Bengal, Nov 15 (UNI) In a barbaric incident, a beheaded body of an unidentified young man, suspected to be a victim of human sacrifice was today recovered from a remote village of Midnapore district.

Circle Inspector of Police Samar Biswas said the body was lying in a pool of blood with the dissected head kept close to the torso so that it did not look like a beheaded body from a distance. It was lying by the side of a village pond contiguous to a temple of Goddess Kali, he added.

The initial reaction of police was that the deceased, who was brought from outside, was forced to bathe in the village pond and draped in a red towel followed by smearing of vermillion on his forehead.

Subsequently he might have been hacked to death at the altar of the Goddess, he informed.

The case, however, was shrouded in mystery as on one side of the dead body a white paper read ''Maobadi'' (Maoist) lied.

Police suspected that this had been done to baffle investigation.

District Magistrate Bhabani Prasad Barat said this might be a case of simple hacking to death by some unknown miscreants.

Truth could be ascertained only when the identity of the deceased could be established, he said.

None wanted to be interrogated on this issue as they apprehended that '' Tantriks'' might take revenge.
