India needs bouncy tracks: Vengsarkar
Kolkata, Nov 15 (UNI) Chief national Selector Dilip Vengsarkar today said Indian needed more bouncy tracks in domestic circuit to help the players prepare for overseas tour.
Talking to the media on the fourth day of the Duleep Trophy final, Vengsarkar said, '' In India most of the tracks are flat. This does not help the players when they go abroad. '' ''The Indian team will go to South Africa where they will find bouncy tracks. Then they will find it difficult to handle it,'' he said.
Talking about the Australian team, he said, ''Young players like Michael Clarke can come into the side and immediately settle down as they grow up playing on bouncy tracks. So they have no adjustment problems.'' He also said openers were a ''worry'' for the Indian team.
Asked if he found anyone playing exceptionally well in the final, he said, ''I should not identify individual players.'' On the Indian team's composition for the South African tour, he said, ''It's the team management's decision. I will not interfere.'' He also said he preferred senior cricketers playing at the domestic level. ''But the international calender is packed and hence the players hardly get any time. The Icc should realise this and give some breather.'' ''In our time the calender had much space and hence we could play more domestic cricket,'' he said.
