India, Italy discuss military ties
New Delhi, Nov 15 (UNI) India and Italy today discussed bilateral military issues including cooperation in maritime armament, torpedoes, long-range artillery and military ships combat system.
A high-level Italian delegation, led by Minister of State for Defence Giovanni Lorenzo Forcieri, also discussed with its Indian counterpart M M Pallam Raju issues of coast and harbour protection against catastrophic natural events, official sources said.
Mr K P Singh, Secretary, Defence Production, was present during the dicussions.
The meeting assumes siginficance in view of the scheduled visit of Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi in February next year.
