Chandigarh, Nov 15 (UNI) The Punjab and Haryana High Court will resume hearing on an election petition against Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on November 22.
During the hearing today the petitioner Harkirat Singh produced a letter written in 2004 by State Cabinet Minister Jagmohan Singh Kang wherein he had complained against Bharat Inder Singh Chahal, media advisor to the Chief Minister, alleging the latter was not only interefering in the working of sports department, held by him, but was in administration of justice.
The petitioner said a file had been summoned by the High Court but Chahal asked the concerned officer not to produce the same, yet the same was produced whereafter Chahal threatened the officer with dire consequences.
When the counsel for Capt Amarinder Singh asked from where the petitioner had secured the letter in question, Harkirat Singh said it was handed over to him by an unknown person.
It was again alleged that the amount spent on use of helicopter, leaflets thrown by it in Patiala constituency, posters printing etc were not included in the expenditure statement submitted by the Chief Minister to the Election Commission.
The counsel for the Chief Minister pointed out that helicopter was used for throwing leaflets by the respondent in his capacity as the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president.
