HC issues notice to Central govt on farmers' suicide issue

Chandigarh, Nov 15 (UNI) Punjab and Haryana High Court division bench of acting Chief Justice S S Nijjar and Justice S S Saron today impleaded the Union Government as a party to the issue of farmers suicides due to economic hardships in the states of Punjab and Haryana and also issued notice to it for December 11.

The matter is before the court on a note from Justice Pritam Pal, which was treated as a writ petition, wherein he had referred to media reports on these suicides.
