HC gives clearance to HBO for telecast
Mumbai, Nov 15 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today gave clearance to the international english film channel HBO, allowing telecast, after HBO submitted that they agreed to the directions of the HC regarding content and its certification by the Control Board for Film Certification.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice H S Bedi and Justice V M Kanade were hearing a public interest litigation filed by Pratiba Naithani alleging that adult content was being telecast on cable television and foriegn channels, which was not in the public interest considering that even children were among the viewers.
HBO's counsel Ritesh Kulkarni told UNI that HBO had agreed to telecast films only with 'U' and ''U/A' certification and told the court that their directions as well as the Cable Television Network Act provision would be adhered to, leading to the clearance for airing the channel.
