Gowda's concern for BCs election gimmick: Siddaramaiah

Mysore, Nov 15 (UNI) Former Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Congress leader Siddaramaiah today termed as an ''election gimmick'' former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (S) President H D Deve Gowda raising reservation issues ahead of the December four Chamundeshwari byelection.

Paying tribute to former Minister and Backward Classes champion L G Havanur at a function, organised by the Mysore and Chamarajanagara Nayaka Associations here, he said those who opposed the BC Commission in the Assembly were now showing interest in internal reservation for BCs. If they had concern for BCs, let the JD(S)-BJP Government implement the reservation immediately.

He said he favoured internal reservation to overcome the injustices within a reservation category.

Former Union Minister V Sreenivasa Prasad, former Ministers H Vishwanath and Satish Jarkhihole also participated in the meeting.

The Nayaka community people extended their support to the Congress and Mr Siddaramaiah in the byelection.

Meanwhile, in an exercise to consolidate Vokkaliga votes in the constituency, leaders of the community, under the leadership of former Minister and veteran Congress leader H C Srikantiah, met here today. The meeting resolved to unitedly support Mr Siddaramaiah.
