Govt to convert Parithi Mal Kalaignar's house into memorial
Chennai, Nov 15 (UNI) Tamil Nadu government today announced it would convert the house of Parithi Mal Kalaignar, the Tamil Scholar who made the first clarion call to declare Tamil as a classical language, as a memorial.
An official release here said the Government would nationalise his house at Vilacheri village near Thiruparangundram in Madurai District into a memorial, as a tribute to the scholar who had changed his name Suriya Narayanan Sastri to a pure Tamil name.
The Madurai District Collector has been asked to purchase the house from the present owner and obtain a detailed report from the Public Works department, with a detailed sketch, the release added.
