Govt sets up panel on sub-categorisation of SCs in AP
New Delhi, Nov 15 (UNI) The government today decided to set up a commission to examine the issue arising out of the Supreme Court judgement relating to sub-categorisation of Scheduled castes into four groups for the purpose of reservation in Andhra Pradesh.
The Commission, to be headed by a retired judge of the Apex court, will be headquartered in New Delhi and have a tenure of one year from the date the chairperosn takes over the charge.
It will examine the deamnd for sub-categorisation subsequent to the SC judgement in the case of EV Chinnaih Vs State of Andhra Pradesh, and also exmaine the constitutional, statutory and legal ramifications of the demand.
The Commission will also make recommendations on the future course of action, clearly specifying the grounds and the criteria on which they would be based.
