Ganganagar BJP MLA arrested
Sriganganagar, Nov 15 (UNI) Controversial BJP legislator Surendra Singh Rathore was arrested from his residence here today for failing to appear in the court in connection with an assault case.
According to police, the Ganganagar city legislator was arrested after an arrest warrant was issued in connection with the four-year-old case of assaulting and beating up Corporator Krishan Sihag. A case was lodged against Rathore at Purani Abadi police station here on Nov 27, 2002.
Judicial magistrate No .1 Rajesh Sharma issued the arrest warrant as Rathore failed to appear in the court on date of hearing. He also issued arrest warrants against Vikram Singh and Radhey Shyam Soni.
The police raided Rathore's house and arrested him and his nephew Jitendra Singh from there.
Significantly, Mr Rathore has been speaking out against his own government in the state for quite sometime now, even personally targeting Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.
A case of conspiring to murder BJP leader Mahesh Periwal is also pending against Rathore.
