Farmers agitation turn violent in AP
Adilabad, Andhra Pradesh, Nov 15 (UNI) Tension prevailed here today as the agitation launched by the cotton farmers, demanding support price for their produce, turned voilent.
The farmers resorted to 'Rasta Roko' on National High Way 7 and halted the vehicle traffic for more than four hours.
As the officers concerned in Market Office of Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) failed to respond or pacify the agitating farmers, the farmers went to the Market office and broke the window panes of the office.
Following this, District Police SP Anil Kumar accompanied by a large police force reached the spot and pacified the farmers.
Mr Anil Kumar also held discussions with the officials of the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI).
The situation became calm after authorities of the CCI agreed to purchase cotton stocks from the farmers.
