Eight fishermen reported missing off Rameswaram coast

Rameswaram, Nov 15 (UNI) Eight fishermen, who had ventured into the sea from here for fishing on November 13 afternoon, were reported missing today.

Official sources said the fishermen, who ventured in two boats, should have returned to the shore by yesterday afternoon.

The boat owner's and fishermen associations undertook search operations in about five boats. But they could not traced any of them.

The assistance of the Coast guard had been sought to trace them, the sources said.

This ancient temple town has been lashed by heavy rains since this morning and the weather was murky since yesterday.

The officials believe that the fishermen's boat might have drifted in the sea.
