Dismissed City Civil and Session Court Judge passes away
Mumbai, Nov 15 (UNI) Dismissed City Civil and Sessions Court Judge V C Singh died in the wee hours at his residence here today following cardiac failure.
He was 55 and is survived by his mother, wife, two sons and a daughter.
The judge collapsed at 0430 hrs just outside the toilet, family sources said.
A large number of people from various walks of life, including judges and lawyers, attended his funeral.
The judge, who was suspended from the service for his alleged involvement in corrupt activities have been dismissed from the service recently.
In the dismissal order issued in last week of October, the Ministry of Law and Judiciary of Maharashtra government stated that on January 9, 2002, judge Singh had granted anticipatory bail to one R C Jain without giving notice to respondent. Jain was arrested by Mumbai Customs in a serious offence.
Later, Mr Singh was suspended from service and departmental inquiry was conducted in which he was found guilty. The report was submitted to inquiry committee. Finally, Mr Singh was called for personal hearing before Bombay High Court Judge R M Lodha, who had also rejected his contention and submitted the report to the government.
