Court summons gangrape accused after cops did not take action
Phagwara, Nov 15 (UNI) A local court has issued notice to the accused in a gangrape case to personally appear before it on February 17 after the victim alleged police inaction.
The victim, belonging to a nearby Kotrani village, said in her complaint that she had been hospitalised in critical condition following the crime and there was medical record of the crime.
According to the complainant, she had been gangraped on February 13, 2004 by the present sarpanch of the village, another member of the village Panchayat, two retired Punjab Police constables, a veterinary doctor and three others but the police did not take any action against the accused.
She said the accused had run away with her ornaments after committing the crime at her residence where she was alone.
