'Cong to move court if EC fails to act on poll irregulatities'

Jabalpur, Nov 15 (UNI) The Congress today said it would move the court if the Election Commission did not take cognizance of its complaints regarding misuse of government machinery by the ruling BJP in the by-elections to Vidisha Lok Sabha and Malehra Vidhan Sabha constituencies.

''The BJP won the bypolls by misusing government machinery and resorting to booth capturing and violence,'' Congress party's Madhya Pradesh incharge General Secretary V Narayansamy told reporters here.

''Complaints had been made to the Election Commission in this regard but no action has been taken,'' he said.

Mr Narayansamy came down heavily on the BJP for failing to fulfill poll promises regarding road and power.

''The condition of roads had deteriorated and farmers were not getting adequate power for irrigation,'' he said.

Alleging that the benefits of central schemes were not reaching to those intended, he demanded an inquiry by the CBI on misappropriation of funds of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.

''Fake seeds were being supplied to farmers but the government was not taking any action, he claimed.

The Congress leader claimed that the government was being run by officials, while Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was busy implementing the RSS agenda.

He also called for Amethi MP Rahul Gandhi to be given bigger role in the party to encourage youths.

He added that the party's state executive will be formed in December after Pandhana by-poll.

The decision on the name of the Congress candidate for the Pandhana by-election will be taken by party President Sonia Gandhi.
