Compounder kills patient by giving wrong injection, flees

Kancheepuram (Tamil Nadu), Nov 15: Police are on the look out for a compounder, who allegedely administered wrong injection to a patient, resulting in the latters death at Government Hospital here this evening.

Police said one Sanku(35), who had severe chest pain was brought to the Out Patient(OP) Department of the hospital by his relatives.

The Duty Doctor B Suresh examined him and prescribed three tablets.

Not satisfied with the doctor's treatment, the patient insisted on the doctor to give him an injection.

But, the doctor refused to oblige to the patient's request.

Meanwhile, the compounder, who was witnessing the whole drama, decided to take on the role of the doctor and examine the patient.

Apart from examining, the compounder gave the patient an injection for the pain.

About 30 minutes, after taking the injection, the patient developed uneasiness and finally died.

The relatives rushed for the compounder, but could not find him.

Police have registered a murder case against the compounder. The body has been shifted for post-mortem, police added.
