Chinese two-wheelers to hit Indian roads
New Delhi, Nov 15 (UNI) Chinese two-wheeler manufacturer Xenitis Group is all set to hit the Indian roads with the launch of four 'Xoom' branded variants next year.
The motorbikes would be available in four variants - 100cc, 125cc, 150cc and 180cc.
Xenitis Group Chairman Santanu Ghosh said that, Global Motors, a joint venture between China's Guangzhou Motors and the company formed to manufacture two-wheelers in Hooghly in West Bengal, is planning to start off its manufacturing capacity of 20,000 units per month, which could go up depending on the demand.
The company had already acquired the necessary land for the and ''at present working on the pricing, branding and distribution channel of the bikes,'' he said.
The manufacturing unit would initially employ 500 people, to be scaled up to 1,000 gradually.
Initially Global Motors would bring the motorbikes in a semi-knocked down condition and assemble it. Once the manufacturing facility was complete, the company would go in for its own production. Besides motorbikes, the company also plans to launch gearless scooters in India very soon.
Its parent company Xenitis Infotech has been a pioneer in the manufacture of branded computers and has recently set up a factory in technical collaboration with China's Unitek Computers Company Ltd, to manufacture computer components.
Being a pioneer in its fields the group now is diversifying into areas to make it a multi-faceted group, a company statement said.
Guangzhou Motor is an enterprise assigned to manufacture motorcycles by the state. The main products of the group company are Wuyang and Wuyang-Honda motorcycles which hold 66 product catalogues in the emission range of 100 ml to 250 ml. The group company also manufactures parts and components of motors and cars.
