Barnala to be 20th district of Punjab
Sangrur, Nov 15 (UNI) Barnala, a part of Sangrur district, will be declared as the 20th district of Punjab on November 19.
A official meeting to give the finishing touches to the new district was held here today.
Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh will visit Barnala on November 19 to formally declare it as a district. He will lay the foundation stone of the Deputy Commissioner's office on that day.
Barnala will be comprised of 207 villages, two tehsils and two sub-tehsils. The two tehsils will be Tapa and Barnala and the sub-tehsils will be Bhadaur and Dhanaula.
During his tenure Capt Amarinder Singh had carved out the districts of Mohali and Tarn Taran and now Barnala. Mohali was declared a district in April this year while Tarn Taran was made a district in July.
