Arunachal Pradesh integral part of India: Mithi
Puducherry, Nov 15 (UNI) Puducherry Lt Governor Mukut Mithi, who was a former Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh today took exception to the remarks of Chinese Ambassador that the state is a part of the Chinese territory.
In a statement here Mr Mithi said the statement published in several newspapers was uncalled for, at a time when the bilateral relation between the two countries were being strengthened.
He said Arunachal Pradesh, the erstwhile north- eastern frontier agency was an integral part of British India and was administered by the British till Independence and after that by the government of India. This was amply evident from the Acts and rules of British India, he added.
He also said Arunchal Pradesh was never, at any point of time in history, under China. The birth of the sixth Dalai Lama Tawarg and its religious affinity with free Tibet was in the past. It could not be the reason for China to make any claim on Arunachal Pradesh as religion did not have any geographical boundaries, he said.
