American coaches to conduct baseball clinic in Kolkata
Kolkata, Nov 15 (UNI) A two-day baseball clinic in collaboration with West Bengal Baseball Association and American coaches, Jeff Brueggemann and David Palese, would begin here tomorrow at the Mohammedan Sporting ground.
As part of the US-based Major League Baseball International (MLBI) and First Pitch: The US-Manipur Baseball Project (first pitch) initiative, the coaches, under MLBI's Envoy Coach Program, would train local players and coaches in this clinic.
Over 100 players, including beginners, would participate in the training sessions. The Public Affiars Officer of the US Embassy is supporting the baseball coaches' stay in India.
The first training camp was held in Imphal November 5-13 in which over 100 players and 30 coaches participated. Besides Imphal and Kolkata, such clinics would also be organised in Delhi, Mumbai, Goa, Hyderabad, Chandigarh and Chennai.
David Palese is an Assistant Baseball coach at Rochester University in New York and has conducted coaching camps and clinics in Singapore, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand and the Philippines.
Jeff Brueggemann was a pitcher for six years in the Minnesota Twins Organisation and a top starter in the Mexican Leagues.
