AITUC to spearhead 'Chalo Parliament' stir
Rajahmundry, Nov 15: All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) would organise a 'Chalo Parliament' stir on November 23, demanding an Act to protect the rights of those working in unorganised sector in the country, AITUC State Secretary Kirla Krishna Rao announced here today.
Addressing a press conference Mr Rao said workers in the real estate sector, auto-drivers, beedi workers and coolies did not have any rights. Hence, AITUC was demanding special legislation for their rights. Neither the previous NDA government nor the present UPA government were bothered about the unorganised sector, he added.
He said no state government was showing any interest in this regard to protect the unorganised sector.
Each state would be represented with seven or eight workers for the 'Chalo Parliament' stir. From East godavari district about 200 workers would participate in the programme, he added.
Mr Rao said this would be followed by nation-wide one day strike on December 14.
