Veracruz cleared for playoffs after paying debts
MEXICO CITY, Nov 14 (Reuters) Veracruz have been cleared to take part in the Mexican championship playoffs after paying off debts of around 1.2 million dollars, the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) said.
''Veracruz are up to date with all their debt payments,'' FMF general secretary Decio de Maria said on the federation's Web site.
''They have the right to take part in the playoff against Guadalajara.'' The Red Sharks, who under the rules of the competition had faced disqualification if they had not paid, face Guadalajara at home tomorrow in the first leg of the playoff.
The eventual winners qualify for the quarter-finals.
