Two more arrested in Malegaon blasts case remanded to police custody

Mumbai, Nov 14 (UNI) The Anti Terrorist squad of the Mumbai police have taken the custody of two more persons in the Malegaon blasts case, presently under judicial custody in connection with 7/11 serial blasts in Mumbai suburban train.

ATS today produced Shaikh Mohammad Ali Alam Shaikh (37) and Asif Khan Bashir Khan Junaid (30) before the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) Judge Mrudula Bhatkar for seeking police custody. The Court thereupon granted police custody till November 24.

ATS informed the court that both of them were arrested yesterday after interrogation of two accused arrested in the Malegaon case.

Both of them had been active participants and main conspirators in the Malegaon Bomb blast. Hence their thorough interogation in respect of their involvement in this case is essential.

With the arrest of these two, total number of the arrests in the Malegaon blasts case rose to seven including two Unani doctors who are in police custody till November 21.

On September eight, three blasts had occurred in and around a mosque at Malegaon in Nasik district which killed 25 and injured 240 others.
