Tension in Pondy hospital

Puducherry, Nov 14 (UNI) Tension prevailed at the government maternity hospital here following the death of a new born child.

Mangayarkkarasi of Subbiah Nagar was admitted to the hospital yesterday and gave birth to the child this morning. The employees informed them that she had a baby girl. However, after some time, the hospital staff reportedly informed her that her child had died and handed over the body of baby boy, following which she along with her family members protested stating that the child was changed.

Meanwhile, another woman Gnanasundari of Lingareddippalayam gave birth to a baby boy yesterday and the staff took it for treatment for breathing trouble. However, later in the day Gnanasundari was informed that her child was dead. Her family also resorted to agitation.

They told newspersons that they would lodge a complaint with the grand bazaar police station against the RMO and the medical superintendent.
