State govt rules out relief package for dead farmer

While speaking to the media here, state home minister Gulab Chand Kataria said since the cause of Chanduram's death could not be ascertained, there is no question of any compensation package for his family.
He said those who are supporting the farmers agitation, should think of providing monetary help to Chanduram's family. He, however, said the state government was willing to talk to the protestors.
The farmers in the Phase I areas of Indira Gandhi Canal Project have been protesting for 58 percent water for irrigation water from the canal and also Rs five lakh compensation package for Chanduram, who died of injuries suffered during the police lathicharge in Gharsana on October 16.
