Ranking system for PSU's proposed at the Consultative committee meet

New Delhi, Nov 14 (UNI) The Government has proposed a ranking system for the Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) to increase the awareness about their performance, Minister for heavy Industry and Public Enterprises Santosh Mohan Dev.

Addressing the Parliamentary Consultative Committee Meeting attached to his Ministry here, Mr Dev said the proposed system would be useful in devising appropriate strategies for further improving the performance of the CPSEs.

Various parameters including sales, absolute change in sales over the previous year, net profit, absolute change in net profit over the previous year, return on net worth and earning per share have been fixed for deeiding the ranking.

He said in the case of listed companies, two more parameters, market capitalisation and change in the market capitalisation over the previous year have been added. Further, EPS has been substituted by Price Earning Ratio for ranking listed CPSEs.

Ranking is to be done in the categories of overall, schedule-wise, Navratna, mini ratna and isted CPSEs.

Mr Dev further stated in the wake of large investments in CPSEs, it was important to focus attention on evaluating the performance of the CPSEs. While delegating enhanced powers to CPSEs there should be equal improvement in their performance justifying the delegation of powers, the Minister said.
