Obul Reddy's daughter arrested

Chennai, Nov 14 (UNI) Central Crime Branch police today arrested the daughter of leading industrialist Obul Reddy for allegedly cheating travel agents by not paying rent for hired cars in the last few months.

Police said Meenakshi Reddy was arrested based on complaints from 21 travel owners in and around Chennai and investigation was on.

She used to hire costly and luxurious cars from travel agents.

Once the cars reached her, she used to indulge in various malpractices including pledging the vehicles or renting them to others for higher sums, it was alleged.

Despite repeated pleas, she did not settle the dues, police said.

Preliminary enquiries showed Meenakshi had hired over 100 cars in the recent past and was involved in malpractices to the tune of several lakh rupees, police said. She has been remanded to judicial custody.
