NEC meet to review region's development plans
New Delhi, Nov 14 (UNI) The Centre has convened a two-day meeting of the North Eastern Council (NEC), to be chaired by Minister for Development of the North Eastern Region Mani Shankar Aiyar, to discuss and review the region's areas of concern and development issues.
The governors and chief ministers of all the seven North Eastern States and Sikkim, and senior officials of the Central Ministries and the states will attend the meeting.
The Centre has taken up the issue of development in the North Eastern region as a priority item.
Several projects are in the pipeline for the development of infrastructure. Beside this, some projects with the help of the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank are being finalised for the region.
The meet will also review these projects. Plans for road and air connectivity, investment in the region, incentives for industrialisation and sector-wise vision plans for 2020 will also be taken up during the meet.
