National seminar on marriage in Mangalore from Nov 17

Mangalore, Nov 14 (UNI) A two-day national seminar on 'Concept and Significance of Marriage and Family - Indian View' will be held here from November 17.

Twelve eminent scholars on the subject from Andhra Pradesh, Pune, Chennai, Kerala and Karnataka would participate in the seminar, to be organised by the Centre for Inter-Disciplinary Studies and Research in Sanskrit of Canara college, besides delegates from almost all universities in Karnataka, according to college Principal Prof Nagaraja Rao Javali.

He said that during the seminar, efforts would be made to throw more light on various aspects of marriage in different communities, including vedic concepts and rituals, challenges before married couple, marriage and status of women, vedic perspective, relevance of astrology, marriages of humans and deities, Christian marriages - Biblical view, marriages of Veerashaivas, distinctive features of Nampoothiri's marriage, role of sex in conjugal life and its impact on social life and marriage as an institution and social customs.
