More Italian wines to pour into India's glasses
New Delhi, Nov 14 (UNI) The Italian Trade Commission (ICE) and the Indian Wine Academy today said 54 wine manufacturers from Italy are contemplating to come to India looking at the 25-30 per cent growth rate of Italian wines in India.
''There is a wide scope for Italian wines in India with people here showing rising interest in them as compared to the French and German varieties available. Several Italians are coming out with wide ideas to market their products in the country,'' Indian Wine Academy President Subhash Arora told UNI here.
The Commission also announced 'Taste of Italy' a week of gastronomic delights across 21 Italian restaurants in major hotels and stand-alone restaurants across New Delhi and Mumbai.
The week-long food festival will be held between November 17-26.
All the participating restaurants will be preparing special menus, some focusing on certain regions of Italy, such as Piedmonte, Emilia Romagna, Sicilly, Tuscany, etc.
It also launched the Italian Wine Guide and 'Taste of Italy' recipe booklet of Italian Cuisines of which Mr Arora is the author.
ICE Trade Commissioner Giancarlo Lamio said, ''With the help of the Delhi Wine Club and the Indian Wine Academy, we have put together a Wine Guide for connoisseurs of wine.'' Some of the events at the Italian Festival include, the participation of Italian companies on chemicals (petrochemicals and pharmaceuticals), seminars on banking and insurance, Italian wines and food, Italian technologies for ceramic tile glazing and flat glass processing, Italian lifestyle and trends, investment opportunities in ICT sector, exhibition on '50 years of Italian cuisine' and Chef's competition and more.
The Italian Trade Commission (ICE), also known as the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade is the government agency entrusted with promoting trade, business opportunities and industrial co-operation between Italian and foreign companies. It operates through 100 branch offices in over 80 countries in the world.
