Manipal Hospital opens Paediatric Emergency Room
Bangalore, Nov 14 (UNI) Manipal Hospital today opened a Paediatric Emergency Room to cater to children who need medical attention for critical conditions.
The six-bed emergency room, complete with life saving equipment and special facilities was claimed to be the first of its kind in the city.
The facility was inaugurated by former Team India player and Under-19 Cricket Coach Venkatesh Prasad at a function organised to mark Children's Day here.
Head of the new set-up Dr Meera Ramakrishnan said ''children and adolescents are special patients who need the expertise and care of nurses and physicians skilled in paediatric care since their problems are different from those of adults. The goal of the Paediatric Emergency Room is to provide high-quality emergency medical care in an efficient and caring manner.'' Manipal Health Systems Group Medical Director Dr Nagendra Swamy said the Paediatric Emergency room offered a cheerful, child-friendly environment created to make a child's acute illness treatment as positive as possible. Not just the decor of the emergency room, but the entire environment was sensitive to the unique medical and emotional needs of children.
