Man 'hangs' to get into Guiness book of World Records

Tuticorin (Tamil Nadu), Nov 14: Muthukumar(23), a construction labourer tied a knot around his neck and hanged himself for nearly one minute and 38 seconds.

The daring feat on Sunday was attended by the peple of Pudugrammam village and Kovilpatti Municipal Vice-Chairman.

After the feat, Muthu said he would increase the timing the next time, when he attempts the feat.

Officials of the Guiness World Record Book would be invited to witness the feat, he said.

''My aim is to set a new Guiness World Record. So I am looking for certain daring feats, which nobody had attempted so far'', he said.

When pointed out that such a feat was against law as it was tantamount to suicide attempt, he said ''I applied for permission.

But police denied permission. But I wanted to go ahead with the feat. So I did it'', he said.
