Love, not hatred, necessary to achieve peace

New Delhi, Nov 14 (UNI) Nirankari Baba Hardev Singh has said power of love, and not hatred, is necessary to achieve peace and prosperity.

Addressing the congregation on the concluding day of the three-day 59th Nirankari Sant Samagam here late last night, he said, ''We find hatred and violence all around. It is unfortunate that man has failed to adopt the noble feeling of love in spite of the teachings of the saints, Gurus and prophets and the holy scriptures.'' He said for that man must realise the Supreme Truth - the God who is the supreme source of love. ''It is by uniting with God that man can rise from delusions of material world that make him egoistic and lead to conflicts and violence.'' The spiritual leader, however, said a devotee of God must guard himself against the fascinations of the material world which are always there to detract him from the path of love and truth.

Railway Minister Lalu Prasad also attended the concluding session. A multi-lingual poetic symposium was also held in which about 20 poets from the Mission aired their views on the theme ''Animosity or conflicts, what we need today is love.'' UNI VA RP BS1752
