Losing BJP mayoral candidate files court case
Moradabad, Nov 14 (UNI) BJP mayoral candidate from Moradabad Beena Agarwal, who lost the election by a thin margin in the recently concluded Uttar Pradesh civic poll, today filed a court case against 14 persons including the district magistrate, counting officer and the newly-elected mayor.
The case would be heard tomorrow in the court of additional district judge (I) Hiralal Kardam, official sources said here.
Ms Agarwal has alleged she lost the election due the pressure of the ruling Samajwadi Party. Further, she claims the election commission had not approved the ballot boxes used in the poll.
DM Pandhari Yadav and counting officer Dr Indravir Yadav had indulged in several irregularities to ensure the victory of the ruling party candidate Dr Sayyed Tufail Hasan, the BJP leader claims. She has demanded repoll or re-counting of votes.
Dr Hasan had defeated BJP mayoral nominee Ms Agarwal by only 1,718 votes.
