Karnataka wins with bonus point, AP beats Kerala
Margao, Nov 14 (UNI) An inspired bowling spell by left arm spinner Bharat Kondaji (5 for 49) enabled Karnataka score a facile inning and 70 runs victory with bonus point over hosts Goa on the last day of the three-day South Zone under- 15 Polly Umrigar Trophy match played here today.
Meanwhile, Andra Pradesh defeated Kerala by 171 runs and gained full four points.
Karnataka are leading the table with 9 points from two wins, followed by Andra Pradesh with 4 points in as many matches.
Goa, who needed 396 runs to make the visitors bat, today resummed at the overnight score of 52 for 4 but failed to negotiate the attacks from the visitors, and hosts collapse like nine pins. At one time they were 111 for 7. Only all rounder Regan Pinto's half century (63 runs) laced with 12 fours which came off 131 balls brought some respectability to their total. Their innings ended at 151 all out in 82.3 overs.
At Fatorda, Kerala, who needed 296 runs to win, resumed their second inning with overnight score of 27 for 3 and were bundled out for for 125, falling to the guiles of Mehabob Bhasha 4 for 38. He was well supported by Raghav Pritam 2 for 17 and Koteshwar Rao 2 for 23.
Kerala added only 98 runs to the overnight score and were all out for 125 in 50.4 overs with a contribution from Jackson Cletan 38, Aditya Ramesh not out 23 and Rahul Dev 21.
