Hutch offers local-language SMS service to Nokia users
New Delhi, Nov 14 (UNI) Hutch and Nokia today announced an alliance to offer -- INDISMS -- an SMS service, for Hutch customers who use Nokia phones, in which the customers can send SMSs in nine Indian languages.
The free application can be downloaded by saying INDISMS and sending it to 123, for which the customer will be charged Rs 1.60, or by logging on to PlanetHutch.
The service will enable Hutch post and pre-paid customers to send and receive SMS in Hindi, Punjabi, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam, Gujarati, Bengali, Tamil and Telugu through their Nokia phones.
''We believe that communicating in one's mother-tongue is convenient and a lot of fun as it enables a person to be more expressive,'' Hutchison Essar Chief Marketing Officer Naveen Chopra said.
Over 30 models of Nokia are equipped to support these languages.
''Going forward, our endeavour will be to expand this service to an even wider range of our phones,'' Nokia India Director (Marketing) Devinder Kishore said.
