HC grants bail to accused in letter bomb case
Kochi, Nov 14 (UNI) Kerala High Court today granted bail to Rajiv Sharma, the accused in the Thiruvananthapuram letter bomb case.
Justice V Ramakumar, who observed that the case had been ''unduly sensationalised to make a mountain out of a molehill'', directed that Rajeev be released on his executing a bail bond of Rs 15,000 alongwith two solvent sureties of the like amount.
Rajeev was also directed to appear before the investigating officer between 0900 hrs and 1100 hrs on Wednesdays and Saturdays until further orders.
The accused was arrested in Thiruvananthapuram on October 2 this year, on the eve of President A P J Abdul Kalam's visit. He had allegedly sent the letter bombs to scare his opponents.
Earlier, his bail applications were rejected by the Magistrate and Sessions courts in Thiruvananthapuram.
