HC grants bail in rocket launcher case
Chennai, Nov 14 (UNI) Madras High Court today granted bail to D Ramesh, arrested on September 8, 2006 in connection with the case relating to manufacturing of rocket lauchers.
Justice M Thanickachallam granted him bail on condition that he should execute a bond for Rs 5,000 with two sureties each for a like sum. He should appear before the Inspector of Police, CCB Q Branch police when required for interrogation, the judge added.
The judge said the main accused who was the brain behind the crime and he had been taken into custody and been detained. The petitioner had prepared only a part used in the rocket launcher, which was available easily for any purpose.
It was not the part used exclusively only in rocket launchers. It was also accepted by the Government Advocate that incriminating material had been recovered from the petitioner or from his business premises. Hence he was granted bail.
In his petition, Ramesh submitted that his father was running a small scale industry and one Kumar, another accused, placed an order for manufacturing of 100 bushes. He had no idea that the bushes were being used for rocket launchers.
