Father appeals for Anant's safe release
Noida, Nov 14: Even as the police gropes for clues more than 12 hours after the kidnapping of the three-year-old son of a multinational company's chief here, the child's father has made a fervent appeal for his release and urged the media not to sensationalise the case.
While pleading for his son's release, Naresh Gupta, Senior Vice-President and Chief of India operations 'Adobe', also appealed to the media to refrain from sensationalising the kidnapping as it could jeopardise Anant's release.
''My child has not harmed anyone. Please return him,'' Mr Gupta appealed to the kidnappers today after his return from the United States last night.
Meanwhile, neigbours, relatives, friends and well-wishers thronged the Guptas' Noida home in posh Sector 15-A since morning to express solidarity with them even as the family kept itself away from the media.
The Lotus Valley School, where Anant Gupta studied, today cancelled all celebrations to mark Children's Day as a special gesture.
People across the country have also organised prayer meetings for the safe release of the child.
The police have questioned not just the Gupta's maid, who was escorting the child to school yesterday when the incident occurred, but also several other maids and servants working in the vicinity as it suspects the culprits were known to the area.
Several teams have been formed by the police to trace the kidnappers, who 'snatched' the child, just a few yards away from his home, while on his way to school.
