Farmer from Thane commits suicide

Wada, (Thane), Nov 14 (UNI) A tribal farmer from Waveghar in Thane district of Maharashtra today committed suicide as he had failed to repay a bank loan, district headquarter officials said.

The deceased identified as - Namdeo Thackery (40) received repeated notices from the Land Development Bank for repayment of the loan.

Unable to repay the loan, the farmer took the extreme step, by consuming poison at his residence, officials said.

Earlier, several farmers from Vidharbha had committed suicide after they failed to repay the loan taken from banks.
