Efforts to develop UP into Uttam Pradesh are on:Mulayam
Gorakhpur, Nov 14 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today said efforts were on to develop the state as 'Uttam Pradesh'.
After laying the foundation stone of a steel plant in the Gorakhpur Industrial Development Area here Mr Singh said even without the support of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the Centre, he is leaving no stone unturned for the development of the state.
''If given a chance to form government again, the SP would develop UP into an Uttam Pradesh,'' he said.
Talking about the achievements of the his government, the former Defence Minister said all possible efforts were being made for the upliftment of all sections of the society.
He said in order to make UP self-sufficient in power, his government has signed the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) of 1930 megawatt with three major private power giants- Reliance Energy, Lanco Kondapalli and GVK Group.
''The PPA agreement was made for the 600 MW Roja Thermal Power project taken up by the Reliance Energy Limited (REL), 330 MW Srinagar Hydro project at Uttaranchal by GVK Group, while 1000 MW Anpara C Thermal power project by the Lanco Kondapalli Power Limited (LKPL). All the three projects would be completed in 2010 with an investment of over Rs 10,500 crore.'' he added.
