Don Bosco, Kolkata, suffers setback

Bangalore, Nov 14 (UNI) Don Bosco of Kolkata suffered a setback going down to Mallya Aditi of Bangalore in a Group 'B' encounter in the inaugural National School League Basketball Championship, being played at Sree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium here today.

The Kolkata boys, despite taking a runaway 23-10 lead in the first quarter and 34-27 advantage at half time, failed to maintain their tempo. Aditi bounced back brilliantly and won the match 77-60 with their spikers Mohamed Adeel (31), Preetham (19) and Nitin (12) excelling in the last two quarters.

In Group 'A' match, Everest Public School, Ludhiana, defeated St Pauls School, Salem, 81-53 after leading 36-27 at half time. Dilwar Singh (53) displayed good skill for the winners, while Ramakrishnan (21) and Ram Kumar (20) played well for the losers.

In another match in Group 'A', St Emphrem School, Kottayam, defeated Don Bosco, Mumbai, 89-71 after leading 44-37 at half time.

Saji Mathew (32), Nelson Jose (22) were the best scorers for the winners, while Kausthub (27) and Titus Andrade (11) played well for Don Bosco.
