Custom department may summon Aishwarya Rai

Mumbai, Nov 14 (UNI) The Custom department may summon Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai in the next couple of days for questioning in connection with a parcel containing 23,000 Euros (Approx Rs 13.5 lakh) that was addressed to her Bandra residence here.

The Customs Commissioner (Import) A K Prasad told reporters here today the packet was received from Netherlands. But he did not disclose the name of the sender.

On being asked about any notice being sent to her or any other family members, Prasad said, ''so far we have not sent a notice, but the department will do it at a later stage.'' The department also did not rule out the possibility that the money may be a part of the payment of Aishwarya's shows abroad. The Euros were detected during the screening of the parcel at the airport.

The Commissioner said, ''we have already informed this to her secretary Hari Singh.'' Meanwhile, Hari Singh claimed that the parcel was news to him in the morning. Later, he refused to answer calls.
