Compensation to 1055 train blast victims paid: Somaiya

Mumbai, Nov 14 (UNI) BJP leader Kirit Somaiya today said that due to intervention of the Human Rights Commission, Railways have paid compensation and medical expenses to 1,055 victims of 7/11 blasts on Western Railway suburban services.

It has paid Rs five lakh to 187 families of victims, Rs 50,000 each to 518 seriously injured and Rs 10,000 to 350 to those with minor injuries.

He said the state government has paid compensation to 850 victims so far.

As many as 267 affected or their kins who were injured or dead in the serial train blasts on 7/11 have filed their claims with the Railway, claims tribunal, Mr Somaiya said in a press note issued here.
